To remove fossil fuels from the streets, electric vehicles absolutely must be the answer.
When looking over the technology horizon and searching for the next innovation, a useful guide is to list the current psychological inertia. This inertia describes those unchallenged assumptions that protect the current solution. A psychological inertial will hide all of the unquestioned beliefs about the current situation and the best way to solve it. A psychological inertia is the frame around the Overton window that adds to its weight and slows its movement.
If you can identify the source of this inertia, perhaps you have a new tool with which to solve the problem.
We wish to move fossil fuel emissions away from the streets and consolidate the generation of road vehicle power elsewhere. This merely moves the emissions to someone else’s backyard. So, once we have achieved this consolidation, we then must attempt to transform this power generation into a less polluting mechanism.
The prevailing solution is electric vehicles. However, for it to be a solution at all, it must be delivered in combination with sustainable sources. Without these, the electric car is just another…
