I spend much too much time cycling through my various streaming services in an attempt to find some entertainment which manages to combine not only some engaging thrills and spills, but also offers some depth that makes the whole thing worth my while. Something fun, but grown up.

At last, I stumbled over a gem. Mr and Mrs Smith is an action spy comedy series currently available on Amazon. The premise is based upon the 2005 movie of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

This 2005 source offers a simple but amusing premise. A covert assassin adopts a cover by marrying an ordinary guy who has no idea about her true identity. The couple retreat to the suburbs, and after a few years of marriage this international assassin is surprised to learn that her ordinary husband is also a covert assassin who believes that he has married an ordinary girl to conceal his true identity. The conflict arises when we discover that they work for rival agencies and have been assigned to murder one another.

An unlikely situation to set up a diverting and amusing 120 minutes. This illusion is a little weakened by the choice of actors for the roles, as both struggle to play ordinary folk in the suburbs. An alternative synopsis might be, two insanely attractive people shoot at one…
